While many country artists are still holing up against the winter weather for their holiday break, others are already getting back out on the road despite the chilling temps and snowfall.

Crowd favorite John Michael Montgomery is one of those amazing artists who couldn’t wait to get back in front of his fans, but it looks like he is going to have to put it off for one more week.

In a post on his Facebook page, the “I Love the Way You Love Me” singer shared the bad news. He writes, “Hi all. As you may of heard I went into the hospital for some surgery that is going to require me to stay home this weekend January 12/13. I’m recovering well and ready to be back on the road January 19 and 20. The fine folks at the Tarheel Opry House in Jacksonville, North Carolina, are going to bring us back January 27th, so hold on to those tickets and see you in just two short weeks.”

The talented singer-songwriter doesn’t disclose any specifics on the surgery, but we have our fingers crossed that since he is planning such a quick return to the stage it was a minor procedure, or at least as minor as any surgery could be. Last year, the singer-songwriter had to cancel a pair of shows in September after he developed laryngitis from vocal fatigue and inflamed vocal cords, but we don’t think this surgery involved his vocal cords since that usually requires a much longer healing process.

In 2005, John Michael did undergo surgery to correct a condition called acoustic neuroma, which is a non-cancerous growth that involves hearing and balance. And while there is a possibility of recurrence,  it is slight. The surgery for the acoustic neuroma did not affect his tour schedule.
