In a rare move for a major country artist, Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard has spoken out against President Donald Trump’s latest Twitter rant.

Tyler posted a screenshot on Instagram showing Trump’s Jan. 6 tweets in which the president calls himself “a very stable genius.”

The text of the president’s series of tweets reads, “Throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart. Crooked Hillary Clinton also played these cards very hard and, as everyone knows, went down in flames. I went from VERY successful businessman, to top T.V. Star … to President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would quality as not smart, but genius …and a very stable genius at that!”

Those tweets were posted in response to the publication of the new book, “Fire and Fury,” which questions the president’s mental state and also paints a picture of a White House in chaos.

For Tyler, the tweets apparently make him worried about the future for his newborn baby girl, Olivia Rose, who was born on Dec. 23.

Tyler writes, “Anybody got any good advice on explaining to your child the state of our country in which she was born into?” He added the hashtags, “#scary #sad #needingprayer.”

A few country artists, including Chely Wright and Meghan Linsey, have regularly spoken out against Trump, including posts on the subject this week, but this is definitely not the norm for mainstream country artists in the prime of their careers. After the Dixie Chicks created a backlash and lost followers after speaking out against President George W. Bush in 2003, country artists have mostly kept silent when it comes to speaking out on politics. The feared reaction from fans was too great to risk.

Tyler’s Instagram post, which was taken down later in the day, is a definite break from that unwritten rule in country music, and the comments on his post give us a picture of the country’s current political divide.

Instagram user @mrsscot921 writes, “We can only raise our babies to be the best people possible 💙 but yes, it is a scary time.”

Another user, @mr.jyork supports Trump saying, “In comparison to Clinton, this man is the best man we need for the job.”

Instagrammer @believe57wpw warns, “FGL will be NFL … who knew that rap country was a snowflake. He will be saying maga after he looses [sic] fans.”

But @jasmine_rae__ gave props to Tyler for speaking out, saying, “Thank you so much for posting this despite the backlash you are receiving/will receive from your Trump supporting fans!!!! So sad to say this is the ‘leader’ of America & thanks for recognizing that!”

We’ll definitely be watching to see how this all plays out in the days ahead.
