Two months after Hurricane Harvey swept across Texas, devastating the Gulf coast, including Rockport where George Strait had a beach home, the country superstar has just experienced a tragic property loss.

According to a post on the Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort Facebook page, the resort experienced a fire in the venue’s clubhouse, which is now closed indefinitely. George, an avid golfer, is a co-owner of the resort, which includes a golf course, pro-shop, hotel and restaurant. It is located in Boerne, Texas, in the picturesque Texas Hill Country.

The post also thanks guests and staff for their speedy evacuation as well as thanking the fire departments who responded so quickly.

The fire started in the attic of the building at approximately 7 p.m. on Nov. 4 according to the NBC affiliate in San Antonio, which also reported that George performed a benefit there last weekend, where he raised more than $1 million for a military organization. The approximately 20 people inside the building when the fire broke out were safely evacuated.

While the clubhouse is considered a “total loss,” according to the resort, it doesn’t appear that any of the other facilities on the property were damaged.

Weeks after Hurricane Harvey hit, George visited Rockport to survey the damage to the area and his home, and shine a spotlight on the hard hit area to insure continued recovery efforts. No official statement has been released from his camp regarding this recent tragedy.
