Johnny Cash’s 2000 cover of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” won’t be heard on a white supremacist radio program anymore.

According to “The Washington Times,” former KKK leader Dan Black’s internet radio show, “Stormfront Radio,” has used Cash’s song as its theme song since 2014. Cash’s record labels, UMG and American Recordings, sent a cease and desist letter to the show threatening legal action for unauthorized use of the song. As a result, the show is no longer playing the song at the top of the show, and previous episodes have been taken down on the show’s website and YouTube channel.

The letter states that UMG and American Recordings are seeking an amicable resolution that includes payment for past unauthorized usages of the song.

“Stormfront Radio” is part of the Rense Radio organization, and owner Jeff Rense tells “The Washington Times” this action on the part of the labels is part of a war against the First Amendment of the Constitution.
