Each year, as the summer sun begins to set, the fire surrounding the CMA Awards in November begins to heat up with the announcement of the country music nominees. And each and every year, one thing is for sure — some people aren’t going to be happy.
This year, however, they seem a tad angrier than usual.
Indeed, country music fans headed to their socials on Labor Day, when the nominees were announced, to express their discontent over a number of perceived snubs in this year’s list. They cited concern over everything from Miranda Lambert’s omission in the all-male Entertainer of the Year category to Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean’s complete absence from the ballot, where both nominees and winners are chosen by music industry professionals. Jason is the reigning Entertainer of the Year from the rival ACM Awards.
“Where are the women @CountryMusic?,” asked one Twitter user about the exclusion of Miranda, who still led the field in terms of sheer number of nominations. “@mirandalambert should have been nominated for Entertainer of the Year.”
